A week in San Pancho and more

My first week in San Pancho has flown by with Spanish classes everyday, a trip to Guadalajara, meeting Boulder friends by chance in a coffee shop in Sayulita, drinking beer and eating tacos for dinner 7 out of 8 nights and generally getting into the rhythm of living in a cool little Mexican town.

Rather than a lot of words I thought that photos would be able to tell a whole lot better story of this week’s activities.

But first a little bit about the roads in Mexico. Topes for the uninitiated are the only way that the authorities have come up with an effective way to actually slow people down. The speed limit signs make no sense, and like all other road signs the drivers consider them merely suggestions. Topes appear often without warning and are usually cleverly camouflaged to blend it to the surrounding asphalt and many a rental car has has it's entire undercarriage ripped away and scattered to the four corners of the earth. I say rental car because the locals have a 6th sense that warns them where these little suckers are lurking. The great thing about them on a motorcycle with good suspension is that they provide the perfect opportunity to overtake that slow bus and the 5 cars that were behind it for the past 5 miles.

Makes so much sense

Drive one of these if drinking one of those

Like clockwork every evening

Dogs everywhere
Good food everywhere

She sells ...

I started my Spanish classes this week in Sayulita. - I now know that I know less than I thought I knew

A trip to Guadalajara to pick up my motorbike that had been in the shop for some repairs. The old part of the city and central plaza is magnificent

On the road home through the mountains I stopped at the beautiful little town of Mascota to get something to eat. Life in the central plaza is where it all happens, especially on a Sunday morning with the church bells tolling out the hours
