Mills Lake

We started the hike to Mills Lake with a meander around Bear Lake. I had forgotten how the mountains and the views change as you circle Bear. Hallett is magnificent when you approach the lake, but the view of Longs Peak, Keyboard of the Winds, and Pagoda is stunning from the other side.
Ever changing cloud formations against a brilliant blue sky mean that Glacier Gorge never looks the same from one visit to the next. Today the clouds were lined up behind Pagoda on the skyline. Early September, the water is Mills is as warm as it will get, and there were people wading out to the big rock and even going for a very quick dip.
Ronnie, John, Richard and me at Mills Lake on a perfect early fall day.
